Hospital and Hospice Visits

Wags for Hope proudly supports the Frederick Health Hospital and Hospice programs through the Hospital Volunteer Pets and the Hospice Hospets programs. The FHH programs have their own requirements for our canine buddies. In addition to meeting Frederick Health Hospital standards, Wags for Hope requires that our dogs have been working at various Wags for Hope events and facilities for at least a year and have at least 6 visits (1 a month) at one of the nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, Stockman Cancer Center or Rock Creek School. This ensures our dogs are well-experienced and comfortable in a variety of environments. Upon completion of this internship, with the approval of the Wags For Hope coordinators and evaluation team, the handlers may apply to become part of the Volunteer Pet and/or Hospets programs.
