The R.E.A.D.® Program |

| Wags for
Hope is proud to be the first animal volunteer group to conduct R.E.A.D.®
sessions in Frederick county and some parts of Montgomery county. This
is a wonderful program initially created by the folks at
Intermountain
Therapy Animals in Utah. Pet teams volunteer their time and
compassion to local schools, libraries and youth groups to help improve
their literacy skills. Children are motivated to learn to read as the animal
is non-judgmental and the activity becomes fun for them. Here are some testimonials: "I have to say that this
has been more than I could have even have asked for!!! I think that the
group of students that Oreo is working with have not only improved their
reading skills but also their social skills, motivation and confidence...It
has made such a difference in their lives and they ask me about it all the
time. The next group of kids can’t wait for their chance...Thank you so much
for letting our students have this fabulous opportunity!"

truly has made my heart sing when I see these children and how they enjoy
reading to [Team] Jon... This program helps the kids to see that reading can
be fun. Thanks for bringing it to our school."
